Hey there Phinhub fam, it's time to talk some Miami Dolphins football and a big decision that's coming up for our boy Tua.

So, for those who don't know, when a team drafts a player in the first round of the NFL draft, they get a standard 4-year contract with an option for a 5th year. Now, this 5th year option has to be exercised before the 4th year of the player's contract, so it's decision time for the Dolphins.
So, what do teams usually do with this 5th-year option? Well, it can be declined if the player isn't in the team's long-term plans, or if the team is unsure if they want the player as part of their future. But, it can also be picked up for an extended look at the player, or even converted into a contract extension.
And when it comes to Tua, picking up that 5th-year option is a no-brainer, right? Well, let's take a look at the numbers. According to Albert Breer, Tua's 5th-year option would come in at $23,171,000 for a non-pro bowl quarterback, making him the 15th highest-paid QB in average annual value. And when you compare that to some of the top 14 highest-paid QBs in the league, like Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Patrick Mahomes, and even Derek Carr, Tua's option is looking pretty good.

So, if you're the Miami Dolphins, of course, you pick up the 5th-year option. I mean, Tua's play on the field and potential are worth the risk. And even if the worst-case scenario happens, and Tua plays out his 5th-year option, you still have a high-end starting QB for another year at a discount. And the best-case scenario, you lock in a top-tier quarterback for the long haul.
So, what do you think Phinhub fam, are the Dolphins picking up that 5th-year option for Tua? Let me know in the comments.
